Facebook, also known as Meta, has made a special announcement of some important iteration release plans but is going for a new virtual reality headset in the future. Meta’s next plan is to release their futuristic handset of virtual reality, which people can call Quest 3. In Quest 3, a feature of the Qualcomm chipset is introduced, which has doubled the performance of its graphics, which is enormous compared to its ancestors, Quest 2. Meanwhile, Meta has also announced that they are relaxing the prices of Quest 2 and focusing on upgrading its performance by looking toward the user’s experience.
Before Apple revealed its first mixed reality pricing up to $3000, Meta announced its plan to launch Quest 3. As per the latest development, the virtual reality market has a domino effect of Quest 2 and Quest Pro headset sales, which are increasing to 80% and almost reaching 8.8 million units. The Chinese-owned Pico device by ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok, holds a distant second place with a 10% market share.
Meta has faced many challenges in expanding beyond the game community and popularizing its vision of an interconnected virtual world, the “metaverse.” The majority of the top apps on Meta’s Quest store are gaming-related, highlighting the company’s struggle to diversify its offerings.
